Do you know when Abraham Lincoln stood up and said, we're going to stop this atrocity of slavery in America?
This is mid-1800s.
So the fight began between the Confederates, South, and the Union, the North.
And the South said, let's keep slavery intact.
The North said no.
Abraham Lincoln was behind the North.
The South did something pretty interesting.
About two years, I think, maybe, into the war, they started needing money.
So they started making their own Confederate cash.
You ever picture that?
I know I threw you off, guys, but bring me that picture up of Confederate cash.
So they started making confederate money and they started selling people confederate money and you could only cash it in after the war because the south is going to win.
This was their sell.
They sold one point something billions of monies like this and there's a thousand dollar treasury note that
You could cash this in after we win the war.
People bought these things because they wanted the South, they wanted the Confederate to win.
But as the war went on and the Union prevailed, thank God, and slavery was on the beginning to move off this curse of this nation.
Within two years,
That thousand dollar bill would only bring about three dollars.
In two years, a hundred dollar bill was worth three cents.
Because the Confederates lost, the South lost.
I thought, man, I don't want to do that with our money.
I don't want to keep putting it in stuff.
No.
Because that was the wrong thing to do.
Your investments are in the wrong stuff.
You're in the wrong thing and you're doing the wrong... No.
When you die, it's going to be worse.
I'm going to invest in the right kingdom.
As Randy Alcorn said, “I can't take it with me, but I can sure send it ahead.”
Amen?
I know this was a tough message for many of you.
It always gets tough when you talk about generosity.
I just wish you knew the joy that I knew.
I just wish you knew the joy of hundreds and thousands of people in this room.
They know the joy of being generous.
And they love being generous.
The Lord keeps giving to them because He can get it through them.
The Lord will speak to you as a follower of Christ.
I'm going to get it to you.
Can I get it through you?
Because I got a lot of people that need some help out there.
Amen.
