Have you ever felt like you're just trying to survive? Many of us start there. We're just trying to get by. But here's the thing: God doesn't want us to stop at survival. He has so much more in store for us.
The journey often begins with struggle. We're trying to figure out how to be successful. Remember Charlie Tremendous Jones' advice? He said, "If you want to be successful, read books, meet people, and go places." It's true. Books, people, and experiences—they shape us.
Eventually, we reach success. We have food on the table, a roof over our heads, and the kids are in school. But is that all there is? No way! God calls us to move beyond success to significance.
Think about Bob Buford's book "Halftime." He talks about reaching a point in life where we reassess and shift our focus. We move from success to significance. What does that look like? It means using your success to serve others and fulfill God's purpose.
Jesus said it best in Luke 10:17. When a rich man asked how to inherit eternal life, Jesus told him to sell everything and give to the poor. The man was at halftime in his life—successful but needing to shift to significance.
Success is great, but it's intoxicating. It can keep us from what really matters. We need to detox from success and seek significance. What do you want to be remembered for? What's the one thing God has called you to do?
Significance isn't about success or failure. It's about meaning. God gifted you for a reason. Use that gift for His kingdom — that's where true satisfaction lies. Find your purpose, live a significant life, and make a difference.
Key Takeaway:
Moving beyond success to significance means using your gifts and resources to make a positive impact on others and fulfill God's purpose for your life.
Action Step:
This week, identify one way you can use your resources or skills to help someone else. Whether it's volunteering, offering support to a friend, or contributing to a cause, take a step towards living a life of significance.
Thank you for this message! As always with the Word of God, this was right on time. I am in awe of the way God uses my pastors to deliver messages that refine me. I have a long way to go, but little by little He is preparing me for significance!
