Faith In Action Heroes
C.S. Lewis, the author of The Chronicles of Narnia and numerous Christian books, is another famous figure whose faith continues to inspire millions. Once an atheist, Lewis became a committed Christian in his 30s and used his gift for writing and reasoning to communicate the truth of Christianity to a skeptical world. His books, including Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters, have helped countless people understand and embrace the Christian faith.
C.S. Lewis, in his book Mere Christianity, says:
"Faith is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted, in spite of your changing moods."1
Lewis reminds us that faith is not just a feeling but a commitment to trust in God’s truth, even when our circumstances or emotions challenge us. The lives of the Christians we’ve explored today are a testimony to that steadfast faith.
Lewis's life demonstrates the interdependence of faith and reason. God calls us to love Him not only with our hearts but also with our minds. Lewis’s work reminds us that we can engage our intellect and faith together, sharing the gospel in ways that resonate with a world that often questions truth.
